Last night was very stormy and rainy here. About 4:30, I was awoken by a distant boom, and my UPS chirping.
Something I’ve found is that apartment complexes tend to have more reliable power than neighborhoods of houses. Maybe they have their own backups, maybe the power companies take them more seriously, or maybe they just put in better equipment because they know the apartment life is harder on it. I dunno.
Now, I don’t have a lot of energy at 4:30 in the morning, so the only thing I did was check the time and listen. But as I expected, the power came right back on probably 30 seconds later. So I logged into my server to see this:
04:25:35 up 10 days, 12:23, 6 users, load average: 0.01, 0.04, 0.05
Your move, world.
